Lab science. Four audiences. One program brand.

How Mauna Kea Technologies took intestinal barrier science to market without losing a single audience.

Endomicroscopy for IBS diagnosis

A complete program brand for a diagnostic with four audiences and no category to sit in: positioning, identity, website, illustration system, and film.

The Challenge

One diagnostic. Four audiences who agree on nothing.

CellTolerance is a food intolerance program built on Mauna Kea's endomicroscopic imaging. It reads the intestinal barrier at cell level, where food is absorbed, and identifies the triggers behind IBS symptoms.

The science was proven. The category was not. Patients wanted relief after years of elimination diets and allergy panels. GPs wanted something referable. Dieticians wanted a protocol. Gastroenterologists wanted evidence. A single message written for all four reaches none of them.

THE APPROACH

Science, made referable

1. Build the program, not the test

We positioned CellTolerance as a program rather than a product. A test result on its own leaves a patient where they started. Six months of guided dietary management, run by a dietician or physician, gives every audience something to act on. The identity follows that shift, reading closer to clinical care than to consumer wellness.

THE APPROACH

Needs a title

2. Make the invisible visible

Intestinal barrier function happens at a scale nobody can picture. We built an illustration and animation system that sets a healthy barrier against an impaired one, tight junctions holding and antigens passing through. Then we shot film that put the program and the people running it on screen. The mechanism stops being an abstraction.

THE APPROACH

Needs a title

3. One site, four ways in

The website routes each audience to its own evidence without fragmenting the brand. Patients get the program and what six months involves. GPs and dieticians get referral logic and clinical role. Gastroenterologists get the endomicroscopy, the studies, and the comparison against elimination diets. One identity, four entry points.

Beyond the Launch

From imaging platform to commercial program.

CellTolerance began as a use case inside Mauna Kea's imaging technology. It now has the strategy, story, identity, website, and content system that lets clinicians explain it and patients trust it.
